Prostitution in Germany is both legal and taxed. Amsterdam may be known as the prostitution capital, but the German industry brings in over 15 billion euros a year with , prostitutes serving 1.

Throughout Germany's history, the government has generally preferred to register and control those involved in the industry. It was basically decriminalized in Law for Combating Venereal Diseases with rights further extended by the Prostitution Act in This act sought to improve the social welfare and legal rights of prostitutes by allowing prostitutes to engage in and enforce work contracts as well as pay into social security and utilize health insurance.

This does not mean the situation is without complications. There is increased crime surrounding prostitution from theft to sex trafficking. In particular, the exploitation of women from Eastern Europe is a major problem. The act is widely considered a failure. Many prostitutes only stay in the country for a short time and have little interest in paying taxes or receiving benefits.

Many prostitutes prefer to work independently rather than under a contract. Though prostitution is legal throughout Germany, cities may place different taxes and regulations on the business. For example, in Bonn prostitutes pay a nightly sex work tax to work on Immenburgstrasse through vending machines that resemble parking meters. Munich's entire city center is Sperrbezirk. I stayed in this hotel in the end of October for 3 nights with my husband. It's easily accessible from central train station but place to avoid because of it's location. The hotel gets closed after and you need to ring. I can't say it's dangerous place because nobody told us anything but it's not definitely a place for a solo woman traveller or families with children.

You can easily book another hotel in the same price in better location. The room itself is big but amenities very poor. We didn't even have a greeting bottle of water or the hot water for tea and coffee.

We stayed on last floor without elevator and when asked to change the room got declined. I would recommend this place ONLY for those people who are coming for business and need to stay next to train station. Due to our central location the surrounding is very colourful und lively like in all bigger cities in Germany but there is no safety issue given that Munich is one of safest cities in Europe.

We also would like to point out that we offer water in the rooms for only 2 EUR per bottle. With best regards, Fatih Balta. The hotel is reasonably priced and provides all essentials. The check in counter is not on ground level, take an elevator there. The room is a bit small but adequate.

It is very close to the main station so it is very convenient. The street is very busy, vibrant and diverse with jewelries, ethnic eateries, and other night life activities. A bit funky to some. We stayed for two nights and found the street safe since there are so many pedestrians and even security guards around. The hotel will lock the gate in the evening and use a CCTV to check guests coming back.

To avoid street noise, ask for above fifth floor but not the top floor and ask for rooms facing the courtyard facing east. It was hot when we got back and have to open all windows and main door to get the cool upward draft to cool down the room. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. We would like to point out the possibility to safe a comfort room facing the courtyard for a small surcharge before your arrival.

We hope to welcome you again. This place is 2 blocks from the main train station. The room is small, but if you are just looking for a place to stay then you will be just fine.

The WiFi is fast and steady, I think I pulled 40 megs. The hotel serves breakfast and the staff is multi lingual. This hotel has many places to visit close by and they can arrange taxi if you need. The room is not air conditioned, but it did have a window that opened all the way and a fan.

The TV has many channels and a couple english ones as well. Even one that plays music videos, wish we had that in the US Dear Greg, thank you for your review. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed our location and your room. Room, staff, location and breakfast all were really good. I must say I had the best breakfast on my euro trip here. Halal food is easily available nearby.

Only downside was night clubs on the street!! Dear Muhammad, we would like to thank you for your positive review. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in our hotel and especially our service and quality. All the best. Spent three nights in this hotel which is located 5min walking distance from the central train station.

The hotel is situated in the "red light" district of Munich and the area can be characterised as ethnic. Pros: - good prices - good location near to the train station which allows you to easily explore Bavaria and neighbouring countries - 10min walking distance from Marienplaz - friendly and helpful staff - clean rooms and good breakfast remember to book directly with the hotel to have the breakfast included - allows you to easily see Munich from a different than tourist perspective Cons: - several strip clubs on the same street might be pro to some people - after 9 pm you are likely to get offers from the strip clubs - no air conditioning in the rooms - noise from the street.

Try to book a room from the 5th floor and up if you want a quieter room. Would I stay again? As a traveller exploring Bavaria, definitely yes. I would not recommend this hotel for families travelling with children, though.

Dear Jari, thank you very much for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your time in Munich and we were able making your stay a pleasant one. We stayed here on 5th-8th of July The room itself was small but quite OK. The district in the city is criminal it is near the railway station , so there are prostitutes and drug-dealers etc nearby.

But it is not the worst point. The problem is the bed-bugs! They bited me all over. I can tell the bites from the mosquitos by the typical bites - 3 or 5 in a short line. That was really awful. Had to check every little thing in my bag after visiting this "royal" hotel. Be carefull! If some bugs get to your rucksak or bag and you take them home you will hardly get rid of them in your house.

We really apologize to hear that you might have had problems with your room, especially with your bed. Unfortunately you did not inform us onsite otherwise we would have changed your room immediately and would have consulted an exterminator directly in order to solve this circumstances. Please take note that we have never had any problems like this advance, as you can also read in our feedbacks from prior guests.

For being a private hotel, service and customer satisfaction are very important for us, so we would like to assure that we have taken action immediately to this incident to fix that right away.

We are sure that we will find a solution. Thanks in advane and all the best. This site uses cookies to improve your experience, to enhance site security and to show you personalised advertising.
